Above is a very large rice field, often fields like this are owned by several different growers, each working their own section.This can cause issues if there is not good cooperation between the owners. In this case the growers work together fairly well, harvesting the field in large sections. At this point they have harvested about half the field. 
After manually harvesting the rice, cutting and bundling it by hand, the people carry it to a thresher to separate the "rice seed" from the stems and bag the rice.---------------------------- Then the rice is often manually carried out of the fields. 
This is very hard grueling work as they carry each bag one by one to the road to sell. Each of the bags they are carrying weighs about 40 kilograms (about 88 pounds). In this case they are carrying each bag about 200 meters (or about the length of 2 football fields)
While the rice is being brought from the field, we start weighing and loading the rice onto the truck. Everyone does a quick verification of the weights that are recorded and we continue loading. 
----------------------------This is a different rice field that is being harvested. I really do not know how the people manage to do the work. The primary access to the field is across the top of the hill where I am standing to take the picture. After reaching the top they then have to carry each of the sacks 
down the hill and out through the edge of a sugar cane field to the road. One 40 kilogram (88 pound) sack at a time.The total distance from the field to the road is about 800 meters (about 1/2 mile), no kidding. 
After the growers finish threshing the rice, children and other family members that are in very desperate shape. Will come out to search the remains for usable rice.If the primary income provider is sick, or injured this is often the only way the families have to acquire food. There is no government assistance to help them. The people here are poor, sometimes desperate. But lazy they are not. All they really want is for the people that they must sell to, buy from and work for, as well as the government, to be honest and fair with them. Not a hand out ... just an honest helping hand. We might not be able to change everything, but we can certainly try to make a difference. In this case by being someone honest everyone here can deal with. Giving them an honest, no pressure choice, rather than only having groups that want to cheat, hold them back, and keep the people dependent. Unfortunately, to really make a serious dent in this corruption I need a LOT more cash than the limited finances I have available. I have already put in a LOT of money into this and we are starting to see some positive returns. Not just with the financial books, but also with the people in the area. But to really make a serious dent in the corruption, bluntly put I need access to far more cash. However, unlike most groups that ask for money, any funds I am allowed to use, I am planning to return in about 6 months. There are no guarantees with this, but my plan is to return the funds that you allow me to use with interest. But at the very least I want to return your money (or give you the option to have it returned) in about 6 months.
